Tired of Carrying Around Business Cards? Turn Your Phone Into a Digital Business Card Today!

Use these instructions to create a digital business card on your phone. Next time you are at a networking event or having a drink with a new prospect, easily share all your contact details (email, phone, address, and website) with your new colleague.

Pull up your custom QR Code, and with a quick click of a button, they will have all your contact details on their phone.

What Exactly is a V-Card QR Code?

A V-Card is a "virtual contact card" that is used to share contact details via mobile devices. A V-Card QR Code stores all types of basic information (i.e., full name, email, phone, address, job title, and website URL). Using a V-Card QR Code allows you to avoid the additional cost or clutter that comes with older forms of business and/or personal contact exchange. Networking and sharing contact information becomes much more accessible with a tap from your mobile device.

How Do I Create My Own V-Card QR Code?

Step 1: Go to https://www.qr-code-generator.com/ and select VCard from the top of the menu.

Step 2: Type in the details you want to include for the vCard QR code. Select the "Generate QR Code" button at the bottom once you're done.

Step 3: Download and save your QR code image for ease of sharing onto your phone device.

How Do I Use My V-Card QR Code?

After you have successfully saved and created your V-Card, here are some steps for both Android and iPhone users on how to pull up your V-Card the next time you need to share your contact information with another person.

For Android Users:

Step 1: Choose or Create the Image

  • To begin, ensure that you have the image you want to open saved on your Android device.

Step 2: Download a File Manager App (if necessary)

  • If your Android device doesn't have a built-in file manager, head over to the Google Play Store and download one. Popular options include "Files by Google" and "ES File Explorer."

Step 3: Create a Shortcut to the Image

  • Open the file manager app.

  • Search for the folder where your image is saved.

  • Most file manager apps offer an option to create a shortcut. Long-press the image file and look for something like "Add to Home screen" or "Create Shortcut."

  • Follow the prompts to create a shortcut on your home screen.

Step 4: Customize the Shortcut Icon (Optional)

  • If you wish to customize the icon of the shortcut, you might need a third-party app like "Nova Launcher" or "Shortcut Maker." These apps allow you to change the appearance of icons on your home screen.

Step 5: Access the Image via the Shortcut

  • Once the shortcut is created, simply tap on it from your home screen to open the image.

For iPhone Users:

Step 1: Prepare the Image

  • Make sure the image you want to open is saved in the Photos app on your iPhone.

Step 2: Open the Shortcuts App

  • The Shortcuts app is pre-installed on all iPhones. If you can't find it, you can download it again from the App Store.

Step 3: Create a New Shortcut

  • Open the Shortcuts app and tap on the "+" icon to create a new shortcut.

  • Tap on 'Add Action.'

Step 4: Choose the Action to Open Photos

  • In the search bar, type "Photos" and select the 'Photos' app from the list.

  • Choose an action like "Find Photos" or "Get Latest Photos." If you use "Find Photos," you can specify criteria to find the specific photo you want to open.

Step 5: Specify the Photo (if needed)

  • If you've chosen "Find Photos," add filters to specify the exact photo. For instance, you can filter by the date the photo was taken, the album it's in, etc.

  • If you've chosen "Get Latest Photos," it will simply open the most recent photos in your gallery.

Step 6: Add a 'View Photos' Action

  • After selecting the photo, search for "View" in the action search bar and choose "View Photos." This ensures that the photo(s) found in the previous step are displayed when you run the shortcut.

Step 7: Name and Save Your Shortcut

  • Give your shortcut a name and tap 'Done' to save it.

Step 8: Add the Shortcut to Your Home Screen

  • Tap on the 'Share' button in the Shortcuts app and select 'Add to Home Screen.'

  • You can give the shortcut a name and even customize the icon.

Step 9: Access the Image via the Shortcut

  • Now, simply tap the shortcut icon from your home screen, and it will open the specified image in the Photos app.

And there you have it! You've mastered the art of creating and adding V-Card QR codes as icons on your Android or iPhone. Enjoy the convenience of quick access to your favorite images or information with a simple scan.
